GAYBOYS

GAYBOYS is an exhilarating dance performance where two gay men exhaust themselves to modern gay pop anthems. Both intrigued and bewildered by what they’re doing, their deadpan faces offer a funny, seductive and sometimes confused attempt to explore their own place in gay culture.

They sigh, pout and flirt; they move to a metronome of the Grindr notification sound; they make love to objects from corporations who claim to adore them. But behind it all, there’s a growing sense of loneliness and sadness that prevails, as we’re left wondering who all of this booty shaking and eardrum breaking was ever really for in the first place.

GAYBOYS premiered at Dance International Glasgow in 2021 before being featured in the 2022 Made in Scotland showcase, where it was nominated for the Melbourne Fringe Onward Touring Award.
